1. Policy Overview

βœ… Westside Market values the dedication of its full-time employees and recognizes the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
βœ… This policy outlines holiday pay eligibility and scheduled time off when the business is closed for recognized holidays.

2. Holiday Pay

πŸ“Œ Eligibility & Payment
βœ… Full-time employees are entitled to holiday pay for recognized holidays when the business is closed.
βœ… A recognized holiday refers to an officially observed public holiday or a designated company holiday.
βœ… Hourly employees must be on the regular payroll and classified as full-time to receive holiday pay.

πŸ“Œ Limitations
❌ Holiday pay cannot be counted as overtime.
❌ Employees who have already worked 40 hours in the same week are not eligible for additional holiday pay.
βœ… Eligible hourly employees will receive their regular rate of pay for the hours they would have worked on the designated holiday, based on their normal schedule.

πŸ“Œ Recognized Holidays
βœ… The following holidays are officially observed, and the store will be closed:

  • Easter Sunday
  • Independence Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day

🚨 Employees scheduled to work on a recognized holiday will receive their designated holiday pay but will not work that day.

3. Scheduled Time Off

βœ… Full-time employees will work four (4) days in the holiday week and receive pay for five (5) days while maintaining their two regular days off.
βœ… This ensures employees receive additional time off to support work-life balance.

πŸ“Œ Usage Restrictions
❌ These additional days off cannot be carried over to another week.
❌ Unused time off does not accumulate for future use and will be forfeited if not used within the same workweek.

4. Notification & Communication

βœ… Westside Market will provide employees with advance notice of recognized holidays, holiday pay, and scheduled time off entitlements.
βœ… Employees will be informed of the process and timeline for requesting additional time off, along with any exceptions or limitations.

5. Compliance & Enforcement

βœ… Managers are responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy and addressing any employee questions or concerns.
🚨 Failure to adhere to this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, as per company procedures and employment laws.

πŸ“Œ Policy Review & Updates
βœ… This policy is subject to review and may be amended as necessary.
